Creative Renewal Arts Fellow - In 1999, the Arts Council of Indianapolis, with generous support from the Lilly Endowment, established the Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship program. Originally conceived as a renewal opportunity similar to an academic sabbatical, this groundbreaking initiative offers mid-career artists and arts administrators the opportunity to renew and refresh their creativity. In it's 9th round, the fellowship offers 30 artists and arts administrators $10,000 for an 18 month fellowship period.

To create imagery that hints at a grin and sometimes screams with joy is my defense against the darkness that is part of the human condition. I strive to capture the aspect of play that exists in the seriousness of living. My work is very much about portraying the energy of a given moment through renderings filled with expressive lines, bold colors and especially, fascinating shapes.

My representations of buildings bend and twist in order to communicate the memories, hopes, and dreams of the people who created or inhabited them. My trees, rocks and meadows have solid but soft edges. All that I do reveals my intent to create distinctive compositions of curious if not delightful imagery.
