About My Work:

“Evadene Goes To India” is a remix series by Don R. Fitzpatrick that appropriates vintage photographs taken by his mother, Evadene, during her trip to India, Tibet, and Nepal in 1980. When Evadene passed away in 2008, she left behind thousands of 35 mm slides taken during her world travels. Few of us will be able to retrace her journeys, and most of her family were too young at the time to hear about them firsthand. Since her death, Don has served as curator of these memories, taking it upon himself to share artifacts, photos, and other mementos of her travels with members of the family. By remixing her images into the dreamscapes and personal visions that reflect his interpretation of the scenes, he explores her memories more deeply, establishes new connections, and transforms them into personal narratives
