Kristy Hughes’ work is about the experience of making- a record of studio poetics. Led by process and intuition she finds the inherit potential in limited materials. Through printmaking and nonconventional drawing, Hughes aims to surprise herself through process and outcome. She is interested in discovering how one material can become greater than itself. The finished work creates a moment for aesthetic perception and encourages the viewers to find a quiet beauty in searching.
My work is about my experience of making – a record of studio poetics. I seek to surprise myself through process and outcome, thus discovering the potential inherent in limited materials. In searching I find a moment for aesthetic perception, a quiet beauty…the search is enough.
