Born in Southeastern Michigan, Teri takes her inspiration from the lakes and landscapes of her home state and from quilt makers, both in her family and beyond.
Teri often uses a minimalist approach in her paintings, depicting images at their most basic expressions of shape, color, and texture. The visual tension of rocky lake beds against sandy shores, man-made structures, and bright colored flowers figure prominently in her work.
Her paintings have been exhibited in the Indiana State Museum
“My art explores the elements of our world broken down to their most basic expressions – shape, color, and texture. Within my work, my objective is to search out the heart and energy of a subject, find a peaceful balance between the natural and the human-made, and communicate this vision back to the world.
My ultimate goal is to connect with you, the viewer – to bring a hint of recognition to your mind, a smile to your face, a sense of peace and balance to your soul, as you contemplate my work.”
