Synopsis: The winner of five 2015 Tony Awards including Best Musical, FUN HOME is based on Alison Bechdel’s best-selling graphic memoir. When her father dies unexpectedly, graphic novelist Alison dives deep into her past to tell the story of the volatile, brilliant, one-of-a-kind man whose temperament and secrets defined her family and her life. Moving between past and present, Alison relives her unique childhood playing at the family’s Bechdel Funeral Home, her growing understanding of her own sexuality, and the looming, unanswerable questions about her father’s hidden desires. Fun Home is a refreshingly honest, wholly original musical about seeing your parents through grown-up eyes.
Rehearsal Dates: August 21 through September 13. Rehearsals will take place on weekday evenings and weekend days, with Fridays off.
Performance Dates: September 13 through October 22. Performances are on Thursdays at 7pm, Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm.
Contract: AEA SPT Tier 3 – These auditions are open to both Equity and Non-Equity actors. All positions are paid.

Alison – female, 43 years old, a cartoonist
Medium Alison – female, 19 years old, a college freshman
Small Alison – female, around 9 years old
Bruce Bechdel – male, Alison’s father
Helen – female, Alison’s mother (this role is already cast)
Christian Bechdel – male, Alison’s brother, around 10 years old
John Bechdel – male, Alison’s brother, around 6 years old
Joan – female, a college student
Roy – male, a young man Bruce hires to do yard work*
Mark – male, a high school junior*
Pete – male, a mourner*
Bobby Jeremy – male, imaginary television character*
*The roles of Roy, Mark, Pete, and Bobby Jeremy are performed by the same actor.

Date/Time of Auditions: Wednesday May 24, 2017 (6 minute slots 5:30pm-9:00pm)
Date/Time of Call-Backs: Thursday May 25, 2017 (5:30pm-9:00pm) Not everyone who auditions will be asked to attend call-backs.
What to Prepare: 16 bars of a song that best displays your voice and a monologue no longer than 2 minutes
Where to Go: 749 North Park Avenue – Actors will enter through the front door on Park Avenue and wait in the lobby for their audition slot.
What to Bring: Please bring one copy of your head shot and resume as well as sheet music with the 16 bars that you will sing marked for the accompanist.
