Carmel Community Players is seeking directors and their submissions for the 2018-2019 Encore theater season (Sept 2018-Aug)2019. Being an Encore Theatre member, CCP is seeking only submissions which are published and licensed through a theater warehouse. At some time in the future, we hope to be able to create a spot in our season for unpublished/new playwrights with original works.
CCP generally produces 3-4 plays and 1-2 musicals during a season - time permitting. We try to select a balanced season, traditionally selecting a variety of genres: comedies, dramas and musicals. Subject matter is heavily considered because not every production may appeal to the CCP audience member, patron and donor. The selection process will consist of a reading committee which helps to narrow down the submissions, a board selection meeting and a season development meeting. To be considered, please submit the Program Selection Form (from the web site), 1 copy of each script and a theatrical resume outlining past directing experience and background. Please submit a Program submission form with each script.
For strong consideration, it is best to submit more than one selection and CCP is always on the lookout for Holiday (December) plays/musicals (especially one appealing to youth). A director may propose any play or musical they wish, but please keep in mind the CCP venue, facility and stage and the marketability of the submission.
