The Ed Johnson Committee, supported by Public Art Chattanooga, is seeking qualifications from multi-disciplinary design teams and artists to create artwork associated with Chattanooga resident and civil rights pioneer Ed Johnson.

Proposal Honorarium: $5,000 (funding secured)

Project Implementation Budget: $400,000 (fundraising goal)

Up to three teams will be selected and awarded $5,000 stipends to develop site-specific design concepts for the development of a public space adjacent to the Walnut Street Bridge in downtown Chattanooga.

The site will commemorate events associated with the lynching of Ed Johnson, honor the courageous work of his attorneys, and recognize the resulting United States Supreme Court case that changed civil rights law in America. It should be a welcoming space that aspires to healing and reconciliation.

Deadline: Thursday, July 27, 2017 by 12 pm EST
