Exhibition Seeks Artwork from Women Artists

CALL for ARTISTS: Be the Change

Sponsored by Women4Change Indiana and Indiana Interchurch Center

Women4Change Indiana (W4CI) is a newly formed and evolving organization by and for Indiana women. W4CI is dedicated to raising Hoosier women’s voices through activism, civic engagement and training for public office. They foster the growth of involved and informed citizen-leaders. They value non-partisan collaboration, the leadership and perspective of women, civility in public discourse and responsible, informed civic engagement.

The Indiana Interchurch Center, in which building W4CI and many social justice, civic and religious groups house their offices, inspires creative collaboration by offering a welcoming space and a dynamic community of organizations. Together, these groups will present an exhibit titled ‘Be The Change,’ to promote positive, engaging and uplifting conversation on how we can work together to stem the tide of negativity that has become so commonplace in our social and political discourse.

Be The Change calls for work by Hoosier female artists in all disciplines. The work should explore any (or many) of the themes that are causing contention in America and beyond: religion, immigration, race, healthcare, language and education. Must these basic, elemental differences divide us into verbally armed camps? How do we learn to celebrate this wonderful diversity and benefit from our differences?

CRITERIA:

• Each artist may submit one piece of original work.
• Work may be in any media but must be ready for hanging.
• Work must be no larger than 30” x 40” or smaller than 10” x 12”.
• Three-dimensional work must be stable and professionally presented.
• Multimedia work may be submitted and will be displayed on appropriate equipment.
• Each piece must be accompanied by an artist’s statement (no more than 200 words) and bio (100 words).

SALES:

Your artwork may be for sale. All sales will be handled directly through the artist. As there is no fee to participate, a 15% donation to the Indiana Interchurch Center or Women 4 Change to help defray costs of the exhibit is appreciated.

Submission Deadline: August 18, 2017
Notification: August 23, 2017
Delivery of Accepted Work: August 28 – 30, 2017
Public Reception: September 14, 2017, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Exhibition Closes: October 27, 2017
Pick up of Work: October 27 – November 1, 2017
