Garfield Park Arts Center Seeks Summer Camp Art Instructors

Call to Art Instructors

The Garfield Park Arts Center (GPAC) needs lead instructors to teach at their art camps this summer.

Their camps take place in their facility in Garfield Park with occasional field trips. Each camp will run Monday-Friday from 9 am – 4 pm. Lead instructors will be contracted to develop, plan, facilitate, and evaluate the majority of the activities. They will also attend training and be expected to provide proper care and discipline to campers.

Clay Camp (ages 8-12): June 18 – June 22

This camp will consist of clay hand-building projects, such as coil pots, beads, masks, slab boxes, sculptures, group projects, using molds, etc.

Paint-a-Palooza, Part I (ages 8-11): June 25 – June 29

This delightfully messy camp is perfect for younger artists. Campers will learn about color mixing, famous paintings, and various ways to make marks on canvas.

Paint-a-Palooza, Part II (ages 12-15): July 9 – July 13

This paint camp provides more advanced projects for older children. Campers will be challenged to discover their own painting style while learning about various art movements.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18+ with a high school diploma.
  • Previous experience teaching art to ages 8-15.
  • Must have demonstrated experience with related art mediums.
  • Emotionally mature, responsible, and punctual.
  • The desire and ability to motivate and excite campers.
