@ CIRCLE CITY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX
1125 E Brookside Ave Indianapolis, IN 46202

Entry Deadline is May 1, 2018

LONG LIVE FRIDA is a juried exhibition celebrating art created by women artists that is inspired by the art and life of Frida Kahlo, one of Mexico’s most highly regarded and talented painters.

The exhibition is hosted by the artist, Julie “Satch” Kern and held at her gallery, SATCH ART SPACE and the Stokol Gallery, both located in the Circle City Industrial Complex at 1125 Brookside Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46202 in the vibrant East 10th Street corridor and the Windsor Park neighborhood.

SATCH ART SPACE is a woman owned and independently operated art gallery that exhibits the art of it’s owner, Julie “Satch” Kern, invited guest artists and presents rotating special exhibits and events, including live music. Satch began her relationship with the Circle City Industrial Complex in February 2015 with a modest second floor space called Satch Lost and Found Art Studio. After a series of successful exhibitions, including “Body Parts” and “Das Plakat: Art of the Poster 1910-1921 Berlin,” Satch outgrew the space. In February 2017, Satch relocated to the main floor into a larger two room gallery that she named SATCH ART SPACE. A very successful exhibition, “The History of Indianapolis Punk Rock,” that presented punk music show flyers, photographs and live music, kicked off the exhibition history of
SATCH ART SPACE.

Art by Satch is held in private collections in Berlin, Chicago, Indianapolis, Syracuse, Washington DC, Michigan and Wisconsin. Past exhibitions include ARC Gallery, Chicago, IL., Nolias Gallery, London, Craig Smith Gallery, Union Pier, Michigan and The Hoosier Salon.

Satch has always been inspired by the art and life of Frida Kahlo. Motivated to host a group exhibit of women artists also inspired by Frida, Satch developed the idea for an exhibition and “Long Live Frida” was born. This exhibit will not only give women artists the ability to exhibit and sell their work inspired by Frida, but it will also give an opportunity for collectors and admirers of Frida to have unique access to meet the artists, hear their inspiration and story and buy art directly. For those not familiar with Frida and her flamboyant but intimate style, this exhibit will enlighten her life story. The public opening reception on July 6th is Frida’s birthday; she would be 111 years old. Consider being a part of the “Long Live Frida” celebration at Satch Art Space as either an artist, patron, spectator or supporter.
