Sandbox (Grades K – 3)
SELF-EMPOWERMENT THEATRE FOR THE NEWEST STORYTELLERS.
In the Sandbox, Young Actors Theatre focuses on instilling the basics of confidence, creativity and discipline through Self-Empowerment Theatre. When young students are encouraged to tell a story, to be active and creative, to try out ideas and learn to try again and again, they begin a path to becoming lifelong learners.

Each class will adapt a classic fairy-tale through their own unique process. Students will share their ideas on the story, and see them come to life! Classes will end in a 10-minute performance at the Athenaeum for family and friends.

Audition Only (Grades 4 – 12)
SELF-EMPOWERMENT THEATRE FOR THE BOLDEST PERFORMERS.
For 4th-12th grade students who are seeking a more in-depth experience, YAT offers audition-only classes that perform for the public throughout the school year. These classes will have school performances, and students will need permission to be excused from school for these performances (If you are unable to participate in the school performances, you are not eligible to audition for these classes.) Audition classes are only open to past students, and are a year-long commitment, only open to students who have completed a session with YAT.

Intensive Playground students will be devising a fairy tale for performances at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, while the Kids’ Court will devise two original plays on bullying and lifelong learning, performed for local schools and youth groups.

Auditions will take place August 14th and 15th. 4th-8th grade students have the opportunity to be placed in either the Kids’ Court or Kids’ Intensive (students can discuss their preferences during audition.) 9th-12th graders have the opportunity to be cast in the Teens Intensive. Auditioning does not guarantee placement in a show– those who do not receive a part in a Court or Intensive show will be placed in a Kids or Teens Fall Playground class. In this case, YAT will contact parents with changes to billing and payment plans.
