Live theater, family games, art and more will celebrate the life of the most visible leader of the civil rights movement on Martin Luther King Jr. Day at Conner Prairie, a free admission day.
Performances throughout the day will share the lives of some influential African-American Hoosiers, including pioneering aviator Willa Brown, journalist and activist Lillian Fox and teacher Martin Jenkins.
At 11 a.m., 2 and 3 p.m., student trainers from the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, one of the most important organizations of the civil rights movement, will introduce audiences to their methods for practicing non-violent protest.
