Legacy Cabaret V - The Funky 70s Soul Train Revue

This year the show takes us back to the decade of Love, Peace, and Soul with “The Funky 70s Soul Train Revue”. The event will showcase the talents of many local artists who will pay tribute to an era using the music of  Patti LaBelle, James Brown, and Minnie Riperton.

A private reception will kick-off the night at 6:00 PM Show time will be at 7:00 PM The entire event will take place at the Madame Walker Theatre Center Ballroom in downtown Indianapolis, located at 617 Indiana Avenue 46202.

Artistic Director, Deborah Asante, has crafted an exciting array of local talent to both educate and entertain by reminding us of the power of the performing arts, especially here in Indianapolis. Ms. Asante as the MC for the evening will transform into one of her favorite characters Sukie Lue Ambers, Blues Woman Extraordinaire.

The Asante Children’s Theatre will present the 2017 Living Legend Award to Iris Rosa in recognition of her contributions to the performing arts here in Indianapolis. Ms. Rosa recently, after 43 years of service, retired from her positions at Indiana University- Bloomington as director of undergraduate studies for the Department of African American and African Diaspora Studies and the African American Dance Company.

Mark Duerson will serve as musical director, LeToryia Gowdy as choreographer and Deborah Asante as director.
