Phil Ranelin Quintet - One for Johnson at The Jazz Kitchen

January in Indianapolis always marks the celebration of Indy native and world renowned trombone innovator JJ Johnson. Phil, another top their jazz trombonist from Indy returns to pay homage to his mentor in the one night only tribute.

The band is a collection of some of Indy’s best with Rob Dixon on tenor sax, Kevin Anker on keys, and Kenny Phelps on drums.

Phillip Arthur Ranelin was born in Indianapolis, Indiana where he grew up under the influence of J.J. Johnson, Wes Montgomery, Earmon Hubbard, Pookie Johnson, Russell Webster, Willis Kirk, Jimmy Coe and Melvin Rhyne. Ranelin is loved and respected around the globe as a master trombonist of the J.J.
