Kristy Hughes’ work is about the experience of making- a record of studio poetics. Led by process and intuition she finds the inherit potential in limited materials. Through printmaking and nonconventional drawing, Hughes aims to surprise herself through process and outcome. She is interested in discovering how one material can become greater than itself. The finished work creates a moment for aesthetic perception and encourages the viewers to find a quiet beauty in searching.

Kristy Hughes recently received her MFA in printmaking from Indiana University. She has shown her work nationally, internationally, and her work may be found in various private and public collections. Currently, Hughes works and resides in Indianapolis Indiana, teaching Drawing and Printmaking at Butler University.
