Originally from NYC, Paula attended Music and Art H.S. and then went on to Pratt Institute with a major in Architecture and a minor in Art. She has worked for 10 years in architecture then made the decision to focus on her two children and her love of painting.  She moved with her family to Florence Italy in 2007 where she was able to explore and further develop her skills through her studies in art history and studio painting.  While in Italy Paula began teaching a beginners painting class. Teaching art has since become her passion. For more info visit Artofpaula.com

For me colors are what drive my paintings. I started out painting with acrylics then oil.  I painted landscapes and I become absorbed in the colors of the composition even more than the subject.  Today I am interested in how colors react next to one another to create balance or a bold statement.  Lately I have been experimenting with the fluidity of paints.  I am using oil enamel because I like the way it flows and I like the glossy finish when it is dry.  Enamel flows almost like stained glass.  It is my intent to use this fluidity to create organic shapes that contrast with the concrete.    Like the slow growing rings on a tree or coral flowing underwater.  I want to explore more these shapes and medium.
