Art & Soul Kickoff Celebration

Presented by Indy Arts Council at Indianapolis Artsgarden

Art & Soul 2017 celebrates empowerment through the arts. Lift your voice and take part in the kickoff celebration featuring Arts Council Board member and sportscaster Michael Grady as emcee; a procession of African drumming by Griot Drum Ensemble, featured artists, and arts leaders; audience members singing the Black National Anthem; a jazz tribute to President Obama; an inspirational dance performance by Krash Krew Dance; engaging activities by local arts and cultural organizations; and an art exhibition by Featured Artist Tiffany Marie Parker. Meet Featured Artists: Carrington Clinton (Music), Devon Ginn (Literary/Theatre), Taylar Green (Dance), and Tiffany Marie Parker (Visual).


Art & Soul, an annual celebration of African American art and artists in Indiana, features a diverse lineup of music, storytelling, dance, and visual art. The Arts Council of Indianapolis is pleased to partner with Asante Children’s Theatre, Indy Jazz Fest, Kenyettá Dance Company, and Madame Walker Theatre Center to present Art & Soul: A Celebration of African American Art & Artists in Indiana at the Indianapolis Artsgarden.
