A beloved American musical returns to the Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre stage after 20 years starting March 30. Lerner and Loewe’s classic My Fair Lady is Broadway’s version of George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion.

Set in Edwardian London, My Fair Lady tells of the transformation of Eliza Doolittle, a cockney flower seller. On a cold March night she meets Professor Henry Higgins, a phonetician who is so appalled by Eliza’s speech that he offers to tutor her. The suggestion garners the attention of a bystander, Colonel Pickering, who makes a wager with Higgins the he won’t be able to transform Eliza to the point of convincing society that she is a proper lady. The process becomes frustrating for both Eliza and Higgins, but it produces results neither could have anticipated.

My Fair Lady won six Tony Awards – including Best Musical – and is based on George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion.

Famous songs from the show include “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly” and “Get Me to the Church on Time.”

My Fair Lady is on stage through May 14. Kimberly Doreen Burns will make her Beef & Boards debut as Eliza Doolittle with David Schmittou in the role of Professor Henry Higgins. Mark Goetzinger plays Colonel Pickering. Eddie Curry plays Alfred Doolittle, Eliza’s father.

There are 46 performances of My Fair Lady in the intimate atmosphere of Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre. Tickets range from $42.50 to $67.50, and include Chef Odell Ward’s dinner buffet, fruit & salad bar, unlimited coffee, tea and lemonade. Parking is always free.
