In this class, we will study examples of micro memoirs, examining the profundity of the use of imagery and syntax in order to create a quick bite of life. There exists a place in the nonfiction world the lives between poetry and personal essay and that is the micro memoir where brevity and a bit of abstraction are appreciated. We will also write our own micro memoir in class and share. If long form is starting to make your hand hurt, then try out a shorter form to get back to the importance of a singular word and its meaning. By getting out of your usual writing habits and trying something new, you help to develop your writing.
