United Way of Central Indiana Winter Assistance Fund is helping Hoosiers until May 31st. The income-driven program assists households with utility expenses offering up to $400/household for electric and/or gas only.
Long winter months mean drastic increases of heat and electricity bills for families and individuals who are already struggling to afford the basics to survive. These households are being forced to make tough decisions just to keep the lights on and stay warm.
That’s why United Way administers the Winter Assistance Fund (WAF), an option for those who struggle to afford high heat and electricity bills, but who fall just above the qualifications for the federal Energy Assistance Program (EAP).
