Spirit & Place is inviting you to an online conversation to explore Growing Community Transformation through Arts & Culture.
Recent events in Indianapolis have further highlighted the need to find new solutions and approaches to old issues in order to build a different future. Spirit & Place is providing a space to lift up the important roles the arts and humanities must play in this rebirthing process.
When are we gathering?
Saturday, September 18 from 9am – 1pm EST
- Why come?
- To improve the quality of arts-infused community engagement in Indianapolis.
- To create better outcomes and lasting impacts for arts-infused projects in Indianapolis communities and eventually the Hoosier state.
- To grow Indianapolis’s long-term capacity to leverage the arts and artistic practices as effective tools for community transformation around important social issues.
- To provide the basis for continuing discussion and learning regarding arts-based community development in Indianapolis as an effective tool for social change.
- To develop a cohort of learners who reflect a range of perspectives, life experiences, ages, race/ethnicities, gender identities, artistic disciplines, waterways, neighborhoods, and civic sectors that influence the intersection of arts, culture, and change in Indianapolis.
The content of this gathering is entirely shaped by the participants, with no externally set agenda. At the start of the gathering, you and your colleagues decide on what will be discussed and how. Arts-infused sessions that advance the purpose are welcome.
What guides us?
Getting the most out of the event is supported by the principles & law of Open Space Technology.
- The Five Principles
- Whoever comes are the right people.
- Wherever it happens is the right place.
- Whatever happens is the only thing that could have.
- Whenever it starts is the right time.
- Whenever it’s over, it’s over.
The Law of Mobility
If you find yourself where you can’t learn or contribute, move yourself to a place where you can.
