In Performance Arts, I am a professional actor, working in commercial and film, as well as live comedy, via Improv. I have performed Improv over 22 years in Indy, and am an available instructor.

Tasha Beckwith

Tasha Beckwith is an Indianapolis-based visual artist. She studied painting and drawing at the Herron School of Art & Design, IUPUI, but honed her skills in graphic design and digital art on her own. Her portrait-based work combines expressionism, realism, and surrealism and she cites science fiction, fantasy, and Afrocentric themes as her inspirations. Recent work includes billboards encouraging participation in the 2020 census, participation in an artistic campaign encouraging people to #MaskUpIndy, and the neighborhood history mural inside the brand-new Martindale-Brightwood branch of the Indianapolis Public Library. Beckwith works in a variety of media including digital design, oil painting, and resin.

Kelsey Behl

Kelsey is an artist exploring the world of Abstract expressionism and Abstract surrealism. Abstract expressionism is often characterized by mark-making and gestural brush strokes that create movement and give the impression of spontaneity. “Oftentimes I’m just playing with the paint to see how it moves, how it sprays when I throw it, or what lines of the brush it will pick up when I drag it. The variable physical characteristics of the mediums evoke expressions that I follow and react to. Subconsciously, my emotions and moods spill out as if they were made of paint just waiting to be on a canvas.” Kelsey works from her home studio in Beech Grove, Indiana. She graduated from the College of Architecture and Planning at Ball State University, and has a professional background in Landscape Architecture. She is the president of the Beech Grove Artist Collective, and is active in many community projects in Beech Grove.

Jean Benabou

The process of my technique is that of obscuring images through a multitude of painted and varnished surfaces, collage materials and layers. The image is destroyed, obscured and then reactivated, thus suggesting the cycle and eroding power of time. I am unconcerned about the explanation or easily extracted meaning of my work. By not being immediately understandable, the content forces the viewer to participate in deciphering meaning for themselves. Thus this way of seeing the act of creating has allowed my work to come to a place that does not simply deal with the reconstruction of an object for its own sake, but rather the mystifying and abstracting of personal meaning and symbolism.

Valerie Bielski

Indiana artist Valerie Bielski has made a name for herself creating vibrant colorful acrylic and watercolor paintings, incorporating rich textures and dimensions. “I discovered my love of painting in college but never had the courage to show it to others until recently. My art came about from lessons I learned, second chances, and my one true love.” Based out of her studio Studio B in Carmel Indiana’s Arts and Design District, Valerie has been creating works that pop and inspire. Utilizing a mixture of traditional and non-traditional techniques to create images and feelings that reach off the canvas, her work speaks to the possibilities of reaching beyond. In addition to her studio and exhibition work, Valerie frequently hosts instructor-led painting parties and private lessons.

Joe Bieschke

My art is about oppositional forces. A combination of the real and the surreal comprise the subjects and settings of my work. I work in both painterly and draughtsman-like techniques, and use these seemingly contrasting approaches to lend visual tension to each piece. Finished pieces tend to still appear raw and uncompromising, as I try to show the thought processes and hypotheses that I’ve struggled with throughout the piece, presenting the research as the finished product. I view the piece as a working equation, as my thought processes and experimentation combined to create a visual solution. By utilizing internal conflict, juxtaposing medium, scale, and subject, I force the viewer to not only view, but to think. By contrasting scale within one particular piece, I’ve taken a subtle surface of an everyday object and transformed it into the environment of a distant and alien world. In another piece, I’ve reinvented a classic religious motif and icon for modern times. In my work, I like to leave the viewer with more questions than answers, which keeps the work fresh and intriguing, inspiring a unique outlook from each viewer. Most recently, exploring the ideas of transhumanism and technological progress has come to the forefront of my work. I draw inspiration from these elements, and form artwork for a technologically obsessed modern society, progressing and multiplying at breakneck speed.

The circle element is constant in my work, it is a representative of the never ending cycle of life that we all experience. Taking a serendipitous approach by utilizing this spherical element allows me to experiment with color and movement to represent this sacred mark as a whole. Strong intentional movement creates a muscular tension reminiscent of the sacred spirals found in architecture, forests, and religious and spiritual entities throughout time. Fabric as a medium has always been a strong voice in my work. Utilizing hand dyed fabrics or batiks combined with polymers allows for a depth to become luminescent. Color, emotion, and movement play intuitively in my creations. My current series, “Tempest”, explores the churning, the unknown, the continuous cycle of movement and the culmination of color and textures to create a balance of emotion, movement and beauty in the upheaval that storms of all kinds can bring.

Faith Blackwell

Faith Blackwell has been a full-time photographer since 2011. While working in marketing for the International Masonry Institute, she picked up a camera and discovered her passion for photography. Photography chose her. Faith is a published photographer specializing in business, commercial, event and fashion photography. She was the 2015 featured artists for Dress for Success Indianapolis Stepping Out In Style, the premier fundraiser for the organization and have been part of art exhibits at Saks 5thAvenue for the past 2 years. Faith has a studio at the historic Stutz Building. She is a board member of the Fashion Arts Society at Newfields and an active volunteer/photographer for Dress for Success Indianapolis. Faith is also the Event Photographer for Indy Maven, a digital connector for women in central Indiana through captivating and rich storytelling, crazy fun events and an audience of highly engaged badass women. Inspiration comes in all shapes and forms. Faith is a child of the 80s and uses this in her work and thrives when she is able to be creative. People tend to think of her work as whimsical and smile whenever they view it. Much of her passion projects show this. Faith loves to create works of art that promote female empowerment. Her latest project is Sole Purpose, a podcast/exhibit/book, which will feature not only people in the Indianapolis community but throughout the US.

Keith Blanton

Keith Monroe Blanton, born in 1951 to a farming family whose roots can be found in their 1832 homestead farm located on the northeast side of Indianapolis. My earliest memories are of the beautiful people and images associated with the family farms. Beginning with the ability to hold a pencil, I have always sketched and painted the beauty that God has placed around me. It is where I find my peace and my calling. Like most people, my interests over the years have been divided. I received my education in Engineering from Purdue University. The skills that I possess in Art are gifts from God. I have had no formal educational training in Art. My early and middle adult years were spent on the pursuit of an engineering career in the design and construction supervision of roads and bridges throughout Indiana. But, my love has always been in the art of oil painting. To capture on canvas the moment in time, the sparkle in the eye, and yes the very spirit and soul of the person, object, or scene that I am painting. I have always loved the work and passion found in the paintings of the old masters. My years of work as an engineer has aided in the further development of an eye for finite details and an absolute desire to create an heirloom that will be loved and will be cherished for generations. The paintings of Keith Blanton have been on display at Mayor Ballard’s office, the Mayor of Indianapolis and have been at galleries in Indianapolis, Zionsville, Fishers, Greenwood, South Bend, Goshen, and Plymouth, all in Indiana. Keith has also received awards at shows and exhibits throughout Indiana; the following are a list of a few: The Indiana State Fair: over the past 30 years, numerous ribbons have been received ranging from “Third Place” to “Honorable Mention” DeFries Gardens: In the 2010 Garden Art Show received the following two awards: “Best of Show” and “Honorable Mention” Heartland Regional Art Exhibition in 2009 received the “Popular Choice Award” Spencer Gallery, 2012 NIA Exhibit, received the “Judges Award”

Current bodies of work include newest series, Plasterworks, and existing series, Leafless and Something Old, Something New. Linette’s Painting & Fine Art LLC, Indianapolis, Indiana Owner and Artist (January 2009 – Present) Design and produce custom murals, decorative painting, and commissioned art pieces for commercial and residential clients in studio and on site. Artist Statement: Intuition is a guiding hand in my decision making process, from color schemes to composition and subject matter. I draw how I feel, and hidden meaning often lurks behind surfaces of oil paint, charcoal, graphite, and other various media. My hands are often my main instrument, bridging the intimate connection between maker and creation. Each work fluctuates in style, just as my day to day mood and demeanor do. My art is a refusal to remain stagnant; each piece a subconscious megaphone for my feelings, coupling dull colors with vibrant, intense hues. There is intention in each movement– even chaos can be calculated.

I collect carburetors, bike frames, and fire hydrants…any mechanical artifacts that I can find. Each piece has its own unique story. When I use these objects in my sculpture, I get the privilege of giving those objects a new story. I prefer working with steel because of its strength, durability, form, and how it deteriorates.

As an artist I’ve pretty much been in the closet until now. My work has always been visual and I have used a wide spectrum of mediums including oil and acrylic painting, watercolors, and pretty much anything that will soak into a brush. in addition, I’ve used everything from hemp ash, and charcoal to grasses and berries to draw with. I can’t forget the trusty number 2 pencil. I have also used different computer software to create wall hangings as well as animations and short films. To close this tiny bio I want to say that I have lived in Indianapolis my entire life and I’m excited to become a part of this artist community.

Jen Broemel: Artist Bio I work mainly with cloth for its tactility, responsiveness, and abundance. I was originally drawn in by the process, the way in which the materials layer. The way they feel as they are worked. The way the thread and cloth work together, transforming and guiding the work, adding texture, contrast, and comfort with every stitch. I love the history and tradition of women sewing together and am in love with the community that surrounds and supports those who sew together. I am especially interested in taking cast off or everyday fabrics and working them into something unexpected, repurposing something ordinary and turning it into something special, something to cherish, and behold. I work intuitively letting my sense of the fabrics color, texture, and shape guide their placement and the stitches placed upon them. I love exploring, experimenting with the different ways to manipulate the cloth with the thread, putting together and cutting apart, constructing and reconstructing, a cycle that for me symbolizes the happenstance of life. My intention is to inspire others to look at the world around them more carefully, more mindfully, to see the extraordinary in the discarded, to notice the beauty in the mundane. And if they can’t see it, to show them it is possible to look at things in a new and different way. How we see the world shapes our lives, our relationships, our actions. Let us notice the miracles of every day, every stitch. . .EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.

The way we record and disseminate information in the twenty-first century, from Facebook to e-book, is grossly affected by the existence of the Internet. Similarly, the information that we decide to record – the historical remnants of the early decades of this century, both political and cultural – have been invariably molded by how technology has touched our culture’s lives. My paintings and artist books exist as the next form of historical document in observing and recording digital pop culture. ——- Allison Brown is a painter and designer living and working in central Indiana. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1986, Allison spent her formative years in the Indianapolis suburbs reading and drawing in the front covers of said books, save for requisite yearly summer holidays spent at the foothills of the San Francisco Peaks in Flagstaff, Arizona. It wasn’t until her teenage years that she encountered her muse, the Internet, in the form of an AOL subscription. Prior to that moment, her exposure to computers were chiefly comprised ofEncarta 95, extremely floppy discs, and never getting a turn to play Oregon Trail at recess. Allison received her BFA in Painting with Art History minor from the Herron School of Art and Design at IUPUI in Indianapolis, Indiana (2012) and her AA with Studio Arts emphasis from Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri (2007). Awards received include the Paul Zimmerman Memorial Endowment for Scholarship in Painting and acceptance into the Herron School of Art and Design Juried Undergraduate Exhibition for 2010, with her work being shown across the Midwest. Her skills in painting and design have been applied to projects used by Cottey College; The Villages Foster Care, Adoption, and Family Services; the Town of Avon, Indiana; the Mooresville Public Library, Mooresville, Indiana; and Music for All, Inc.

Justin Brown is a multidiscipline contemporary artist and curator. He is a native Hoosier and Cathedral graduate. Justin was an original founder and curator of Future Friends Holographic Magic Club in Fountain Square, IN. He is the founder and executive director of Hoy Polloy Art Gallery at 3125 E. 10th St, Indianapolis, IN. Justin was also the curator and director of Re:Public; a partnership between Indianapolis Contemporary and Hoy Polloy, which closed in April 2020 with the closing of Indianapolis. His visual work focuses primarily on federal and private surveillance data analytics, public and private scientific institutional research, federal and municipal law enforcement investigations, congressional investigation committees, historical documentarian texts, forced perspective, cognitive dissonance, and color theory.

Marie Broyer

Broyer’s art career began in a formalized elementary education art program in Evansville, IN. In addition, throughout her early learning and primary education, Marie was offered participation in specialty art programs within the public-school systems and the local community. Nearing the end of high school, she chose to finish her curriculum at the inaugural charter “Signature School.” Furthermore, with the availability of this new artistic program, she focused her studies on contemporary art and editorial content. Most of all, Broyer won numerous awards for editorial illustration and content. In addition, was granted the opportunity as a high school student to participate in the juried Oakland City College (now Oakland City University) Art Exhibit. Thus, she participated in her first exhibit and at the age of seventeen and awarded a college level honorable mention. During this time, The University of Southern Indiana (USI) School of Liberal Arts Board of Directors selected (Stonestreet) Broyer as a recipient for a full liberal arts scholarship. While at USI, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts majoring in Advertising and Public Relations and focused on fine arts and marketing. Then, she studied under the artist in residence, Ms. Judy Chicago, in New Harmony, IN and traveled the country. Primarily, she studied the artists of the modern and impressionistic movement. Most of all, Broyer found herself inspired by the Impressionist and Fauvist movements. “In essence the movement is a realist perspective through the eyes of the artist, not a photograph.” Furthermore, she seized those concepts and built her own style through creating layers of texture, line and color. Now, she applies her formal training through working in commercial art, digital marketing communications and as an educator teaching adult and youth art classes in her country-side studio. In addition, she continues to learn and expand her knowledge base to further enhance the artist community. In conclusion, Marie currently resides in Central Indiana working in the fine art and the marketing communications industry. For over two decades, she continues to grow as a professional fine artist and individual. Broyer’s representation spans regional museums, private shows, public exhibitions and juried fairs. Contributing the donation of time and art to public service initiatives, she adds her flair of unique business initiatives and an artistic perspective to the local community.
