I am primarily a sculpture artist working with steel & mixed media. I enjoy creating organic, contemporary forms and figurative forms. Women are strong, elegant, AND beautiful.  I love that I can convey that in the medium I have chosen. In addition to sculpture I also do something I call a botanical collage. I add physical plants to my acrylic paintings & seal them. They have various particles in them that capture the light. I try to make my paintings come to life with this process. As a light source travels across my work it is illuminated in different areas, perhaps mimicking the sun. Artists have imitated nature & plant life for centuries, I actually preserve & enhance it.

My life is a very diverse book of many pages. For this, we shall begin, when my Artistic Me, began. In Dec of 2009 I became a victim of a violent crime. I had to undergo numerous surgeries, one of which was to save fingers on both hands. After months of therapy and searching for ways to get me to want to use my hands properly, I was given a camera. A light turned on in my soul. I started seeing and noticing things I never took the time to see before. Through all the hardships I have endured, the one blessing I hold onto is the chance to meet all the great and amazing clients, artists and supporters I have gotten to meet. Before, had I died, I would have been thought of as a good father, productive member of society and so on. Now, i get to help people leave their mark, their legacy, upon the World through my photography. From an early age, I have always loved and appreciated art and wanted to create my own paintings. Born and raised in Iran, I pursued a degree in Chemistry, but I was always painting in my free time. Painting has been my passion as well as my form of therapy enabling me to express my feelings and transfer them onto canvas. I love to create different types of textures in my paintings, and I’m typically drawn to using bright colors. I work mainly with acrylics, watercolor, and also enjoy creating abstract paintings used in mixed media.I live in Fishers with my family. We love to travel so from the Middle East to Europe to Africa, our travels have given me the opportunity to see different sceneries and to use this inspiration in my own work. Nature itself inspires many of my paintings,Natural landscapes help me visualize new shapes and colors, and I love to capture light in different angles.I use my imagination to give the viewer a new way to appreciate nature through my art.

As an iPhone photographer, I am compelled to tell a narrative, a representation of my recent journey in life. My story documents a path that has taken me from hopelessness and despair, fueled by addiction, to a being whose life has blossomed into one of joy, hope and restored faith in God. God has breathed new life in me, a divine spark. He has inspired my eyes and my spirit. Through this transformative nudge from God, I have the desire and responsibility to explore the beauty of His divine tapestry, and capture it through my lens. My photography was once a solitary practice, fearful of judgment and inferiority. Through my awakening, I now believe that my talents and experiences are intended to be shared, and maybe even offer hope to someone else who may be struggling. Now that my eyes and spirit have been awakened, my faith restored, and my addiction and fear overcome, I share with you my journey through my lens. To discuss my IPhone photography techniques or my recovery, you may contact me at michael.ahlrichs@gmail.com.

Hey there, it’s Adair! I am a graphic designer and barista. I have my bachelors of fine arts from Herron School of Art + Design at IUPUI. As a designer, I am a sucker for cute package design. That’s why I have an extensive collection of eyeshadow pallets (it’s not an obsession, it’s research on good design). I currently am using my design and coffee skills at The Tube Factory Artspace. Tube Factory is a part of Big Car Collaborative. The Tube Factory is located in Garfield Park and is a non profit contemporary art gallery. We believe in utilizing tools of culture and creativity to build community and social cohesion. I love doing design, but in my own time I love doing portraits and using markers, watercolors, and color pencils. Both my design and my art work feature soft round shapes and usually the color pink.

I grew up in a typical Midwestern family in Michigan. Always interested in art, but discouraged from following it as a career, I obtained a degree in accounting from Michigan State University. After spending many years in bondage as an accountant, I finally broke free and returned to school to pursue a degree in fine arts. As a graduate of Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis, with a BFA in Ceramics, I continue to pursue my love of everything creative.

    Visual Arts: Painting
I am a self-taught abstract expressionist who, simply, is inspired by the beauty of colors. I love the random and unique blending and patterning that exists everywhere especially in natural phenomenon, processes, and origins such as galactic, botanic, and aquatic. I express ephemeral and yet everlasting stories through energy, movement, and form in which I convey the limitless potential of color. My paintings appear wildly unstructured yet there is an underlying deliberate intention and structure to them. As dramatic as it might sound, for me, colors – aqua, fuchsia, periwinkle, tangerine – are gods and goddesses. I, merely their illustrator, am in awe of the myths and legends that emerge.

My work is about connection to and conflict between these inner and outer experience. In my work exploring interiors, I layer, destroy, repeat and recombine imagery in an intuitive process.  Rather than attempting to paint the world faithfully as I see it, these works are focused on the inner, imagined places of memory or imagination that give depth and meaning to our experience of the world.
  • Nathasa Rae Anderson
    Nathasa Rae Anderson
Artist of Color; Black/African American; Native American/Indigenous; Visual Arts: Illustration, Painting, Works on paper
Hello! I’m Nathasa Rae (pronounced Natasha). I am a hand-drawn neo pop realism ink illustrator and watercolorist. I create mighty fierce warrior women who embrace their inner strength and beauty. These warrior queens are created to empower others to embody their own power and stunning grace. For the little warriors and animal lovers, I create eye-catching animal artwork that makes a beautiful addition to any home. When I decided to pursue as passion and a career, My business started during the journey of self love and acceptance. During a time of combating self doubt and harshness I created warriors to heal. In the midst of all of this it dawned on me that I may not be the only one who needed this message. So in my small apartment I started creating illustrations and watercolors to encourage and inspire others to embrace their true spirit. My mother taught me how to draw and she is still the person I turn to when I have trouble with my art; my brother also is a great resource. My background in formal training includes traditional drawing, graphic design and pre-production animation. Once I turned 18 I began to have mystery medical issues; this lead to years of physical pain and mental struggles. I turned to art and my faith to cope. In fact, it was in the midst of all of this that I sketched my first warrior. A reminder to myself of the strength and grace other women in my family possess in tough times. This is why I believe in the healing power of art. I have used art to navigate through the storms and the sunny days. So I create art to help others bravely sail through their storms as well.
