  • Adair Allen
    Adair Allen
Graphic Arts; Visual Arts: Graphic Arts, Illustration, Media and Visual Communications
Hey there, it’s Adair! I am a graphic designer and barista. I have my bachelors of fine arts from Herron School of Art + Design at IUPUI. As a designer, I am a sucker for cute package design. That’s why I have an extensive collection of eyeshadow pallets (it’s not an obsession, it’s research on good design). I currently am using my design and coffee skills at The Tube Factory Artspace. Tube Factory is a part of Big Car Collaborative. The Tube Factory is located in Garfield Park and is a non profit contemporary art gallery. We believe in utilizing tools of culture and creativity to build community and social cohesion. I love doing design, but in my own time I love doing portraits and using markers, watercolors, and color pencils. Both my design and my art work feature soft round shapes and usually the color pink.
  • Nathasa Rae Anderson
    Nathasa Rae Anderson
Artist of Color; Black/African American; Native American/Indigenous; Visual Arts: Illustration, Painting, Works on paper
Hello! I’m Nathasa Rae (pronounced Natasha). I am a hand-drawn neo pop realism ink illustrator and watercolorist. I create mighty fierce warrior women who embrace their inner strength and beauty. These warrior queens are created to empower others to embody their own power and stunning grace. For the little warriors and animal lovers, I create eye-catching animal artwork that makes a beautiful addition to any home. When I decided to pursue as passion and a career, My business started during the journey of self love and acceptance. During a time of combating self doubt and harshness I created warriors to heal. In the midst of all of this it dawned on me that I may not be the only one who needed this message. So in my small apartment I started creating illustrations and watercolors to encourage and inspire others to embrace their true spirit. My mother taught me how to draw and she is still the person I turn to when I have trouble with my art; my brother also is a great resource. My background in formal training includes traditional drawing, graphic design and pre-production animation. Once I turned 18 I began to have mystery medical issues; this lead to years of physical pain and mental struggles. I turned to art and my faith to cope. In fact, it was in the midst of all of this that I sketched my first warrior. A reminder to myself of the strength and grace other women in my family possess in tough times. This is why I believe in the healing power of art. I have used art to navigate through the storms and the sunny days. So I create art to help others bravely sail through their storms as well.

    Gersh ArtMaster
Visual Arts: Illustration, Mixed Media, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Visual Arts Instructor, Works on paper; Painting, drawing and pro-photography, sci-fi and how-tos on art and pro-photography and more
Nobody Can Tell Me What To Do, Not Even Me! There are neither good nor bad subjects. From the point of view of pure Art, you could almost establish it as an axiom that the subject is irrelevant, style itself being an absolute manner of seeing things. Of all lies, art is the least untrue. Anything becomes interesting if you look at it long enough. Gustave Flaubert My name is Gersh and I’m a self-taught well-published Professional Photographer, Artist, Sci-fi & How-To Professional Photography & How-To Art Writer & Designer. I started drawing and painting when I was 3 and the first time I had my photography work published was when I was a very young child. I have never gone to school to study art, writing, design and/or photography, nor have I had anyone teaching me any of the said disciplines. My art work comprises of a very large collection of black and white and color images which have been created by me in various styles, some of which are surrealism, realism, impressionism and other well-known artistic expressions, in addition to those which have been pioneered by me. What sets me apart from all other artists, is not only a distinct style of my work, but also the fact that I work in almost each and every medium and genre and pioneer my own genres. A large portion of my work are storyboards and illustration for books written by me, nevertheless there are also images which are not a part of any project. They say that every image is worth a thousand words and that every image is a story. My art speaks for itself and I’m not here to describe it, because if my images couldn’t speak for themselves and could not tell stories, they wouldn’t be worth of even looking at them, needless speaking of being published and admired by people. My art is not only a product of my knowledge, imagination, but is also a result of experiences achieved through the exploration of various mediums. From pen and Indian ink, charcoal, markers, oil, graphite, acrylics to less known materials, some of which have been created by me. Despite what has been said, I do not stick with any particular style, but on contrary remain a free explorer of various mediums and styles, which leaves me free not to be told what to do, not even by me, but to remain free in my exploration of the ways and choices to achieve an absolute paramount in my artistic-expression!

What is Quixotic Artistry?  It is first and foremost, my brand.  It’s whimsy, it’s being able to look failure directly in the eye, and say “f*&# off”, and turn it into success. It’s my past heartbreak, and my feelings of insecurity. Ironically, it is my suit of armour, and my confidence. It is Assemblage, fashion design, makeup artistry, and graphics.  It is choreography, it is design. It’s perfect balance. It is the rebirth of my failed attempts at becoming a fashion designer, yet is the new life of a new approach.  It is the phoenix, that is rising from the ashes of what I thought to be the end of a journey.  Alas, my journey is not over.  What is Quixotic | Artistry ?  It is whatever that I want it to be, and will be everything that I quixotically dream it to be.
  • Lydia Burris
    Lydia Burris
Multi Arts; Visual Arts: Constructions/Collage, Illustration, Mixed Media, Painting, Portrait, Sculpture, Visual Arts Instructor, Works on paper; Installation
Lydia Burris is a mixed media and multi-subject artist. She often compares her work to the sense dreams: a place of ambiguity, emotion and surrealism, peppered with snippets of symbolism and meaning. The mind and how it works is a recurring theme in her artwork. In the studio she experiments with both 2D and 3D mediums. She playfully splatters, scrapes, constructs, destroys, and reconstructs her way through the creative process. Her subjects range from a deep darkness to delightful whimsy. Another of her passions is poetry, often through found and cut text creations. She is a fanatic about sketchbooks, and works in one daily. Her most recent series (2020) involved mixed media collages revolving around the yearning to travel mixed with her love of fantastic people and places. In 2004, 2005 Lydia traveled to Norwich, England where she received her Masters of Fine Art from the Norwich School of Art and Design. She keeps an art studio in Downtown Indianapolis, and teaches studio art part time at Ivy Tech. She shows her work in galleries, participates in art events, and vends at conventions such as GenCon and Horrorhound Weekend. • Kimberly Carlson
    Kimberly Carlson
Multi Arts; Performing Arts: Dance; Visual Arts: Mixed Media, Performance Art, Works on paper; Manga-superhero inspured artwork.
I believe I am inspired to be creative in mixed media artwork as well as dance in an ‘outsider-style’ format.  The creative impulse I receive and the images of what to draw/perform as well as how to do the art come to me organically but most often when I am listening  to music and around safe and artistically like-minded people.  The majority of what I am influenced to draw is manga-based but I am also activated by the environment around me and the images I see in it.  What I do can be considered a sort of performance art because it is most often located randomly and the artistic flow I receive is spontaneous.

After being told for years that pursuing art wasn’t a viable source of income or success, I was finally able to abandon the discouraging notion that what I truly loved doing was insignificant. Perhaps I’m a bit late to the game of exhibiting my work…or maybe I needed to wait until now. Either way, it’s my time to take a risk and really start focusing on that which fills me with joy.
