  • Dorsh Deans
    Dorsh Deans
    Performing Arts: Music
Dorsh Deans, better known simply as Dorsh, has spent his entire life traveling the globe and developing a keen understanding of culture and music. Born in America to parents of Jamaican and English descent, Dorsh was exposed at an early age to several sounds not found on Top 40 radio. As he began traveling abroad as a competitive soccer player, the influences of his parents were expanded, and Dorsh quickly became interested in blending sounds from around the world with the reggae, soul, and disco heard at home. While following his dream to become a professional soccer player, Dorsh attended trials with Birmingham City in the English Premiership and with the Jamaican National team in 2008. Unfortunately, during a match at Butler University, he suffered a blow to the head that shattered his face in multiple locations, ruining his soccer dreams forever. However, that tragedy became a blessing in disguise, allowing Dorsh to focus all of his attention and efforts on completing a degree in audio engineering and becoming an extremely proficient sound designer. In the past year, Dorsh has been featured on several top music blogs and radio shows domestically and Internationally. On February 24, 2012 his debut single “Je t’aime”, from the Neopolitan LP, premiered at #10 on Hypem’s popular music charts. Amidst performing with a wide range of artists from Lee “Scracth” Perry to Talib Kweli, Dorsh has done remix work for FADERLABEL in NYC, engineered for Ska Rebirth in Kingston, and mastered for Asahi Brewery in Tokyo. Successfully earning his stripes in the i

  • Indian City Weather
    Indian City Weather
    Performing Arts: Music
The band was born when drummer Tyler Bayne and spoken word artist Niq Askren merged their two-piece hip hop assemblage with a guitar duo comprised of Joe Cohen and Jonah Crouch. “I brought our little hip-hop project into their dueling acoustic guitar stuff and it started taking shape from there,” Bayne says as he details the band’s earliest manifestation. “We’d play really low volume acoustic stuff, and Niq would rap and do spoken word pieces over it. Eventually, we decided to start a full band and we brought in a friend of mine from high school, Danny Finch.” Finch, ICW’s eldest member at 24 years, brings the group’s only real source of previous band experience with past bouts in pop-punk bands Fat and The Midget Ticklers. Around that same time, Joshua Neese joined the band to handle singing responsibilities supplemental to Askren’s calm raps. Although guitarist Joe Cohen recorded the EP with Indian City Weather, he eventually quit to pursue other interests and was replaced by the band’s longtime friend Dillon Mitchell.   When Indian City Weather was ready to hit the studio earlier this spring, they reached out to Tyler Watkins, bassist for Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s, who operates Queensize Studios in downtown Indianapolis. ICW’s time there (four days of tracking and two days of mixing, spread out over the course of two months) was a memorable experience for the six studio novices; the closing song on the EP, “State Avenue”, is even named for the street where the studio is located.   Bayne considers the band privileged to have worked with such a distinguished musician as Watkins. “He produced, mixed, and mastered our EP, so his hands are all over it,” Bayne explains. “He’s continued to be kind of our designated Yoda, giving us advice regarding almost everything we’re doing right now.” Watkins cites the skill level of the young music makers as a major deciding factor in working with them. “A group of talented musicians and an introverted poet approached me with open minds,” he says. “Also, I’m a sucker for polite weirdos.”

If you talk to me in person, I could probably tell you about one of the things I’m interested in and dive into that, but to explain that I’m a mixed media artist who also sings, streams and teaches is kind of hard to pull together simply. Though I guess I just did. I live up in Noblesville, Indiana. I’m currently 42. My health isn’t great, so I work from home now, and work pretty small because my office is also my art/music studio, though I’d love to have a large studio one day to work on mural pieces that can be hung, as well as installation art. I’ve fronted bands off and on for 15 years, but the health curbed that too, so I’m often doing singing or art streams.

  • Matt Soverns
    Matt Soverns
Performing Arts: Actor/Actress, Music, Theatre, Vocal
A Musical Misfit Inspired by his 3 older brothers, Matt began performing in local theatrical productions at the embryonic age of 8. Not much later, he began writing comedy sketches for his middle school talent shows, and self-producing shows with his friends to great success! Matt began his professional journey in early 2013 as a pianist in a Saxophone/piano duo called Rhatatat at the Anderson, Indiana Mayors Ball. Almost ten years later, Matt has performed well over 1,000 shows as a professional pianist and singer in over 10 states and 2 countries in every imaginable capacity from smoky bars in Downtown Chicago to beautiful churches in Central Florida, noisy street corners in Nashville, Tennessee to U.S. military installations in Germany, and much much more. Today, at the “not-so-embryonic” age of 28, Matt is still producing music, writing comedy, and making original content. When you make it a point to see Matt Soverns perform in person, you don’t regret it!

  • Drew Watson
    Drew Watson
    Performing Arts: Music, Vocal
Nate and Drew of Redoux! started playing music together over 20 years ago; after a successful run of playing originals in places such as Bogart’s in Cincinnati and multiple venues across the Midwest.  However, with Drew’s string of living and playing music overseas – Germany, Italy, Belgium, and Brazil – they took a pause in their collaboration. Along the way, even playing separately with other groups, their musicianship and stage presence continued to grow. Now, with Drew back in Indy, they are incorporating multiple instruments and complex loops while still keeping the enjoyable songs and crowd-pleasing stage presence with their duo Redoux! Their fanbase continues to grow, as does their experimentation and the fun, as they love to reimagine pop songs and incorporate their own originals in their setlist.
