    Visual Arts: Ceramics
I grew up in a typical Midwestern family in Michigan. Always interested in art, but discouraged from following it as a career, I obtained a degree in accounting from Michigan State University. After spending many years in bondage as an accountant, I finally broke free and returned to school to pursue a degree in fine arts. As a graduate of Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis, with a BFA in Ceramics, I continue to pursue my love of everything creative.

  • Kay Bae
    Kay Bae
    Visual Arts: Mixed Media, Painting
I am inspired by Eastern and Western cultures, and as a scientist, I take a trial and error approach to making art. I appreciate the beauty of lines, shapes, colors, and space in nature and the man-made world. My art is unique because of my diverse influences and my interest in time, color, and methodology. My work explores organic, deeply textured, and delicate beauty. My art is characterized by linear rhythm, dynamic movement, and varied materials that, along with vibrant colors, create bold compositions. I also like to incorporate a variety of paper and sewing techniques into my paintings, creating a highly textured mixed media work. I work in acrylic, oil, watercolor, collage, mixed media, drawing, ceramics, jewelry, textiles, sewing, crochet, and felting.

Visual Arts: Functional and/or Decorative, Mixed Media, Sculpture
As an artist I enjoy creating both decorative and functional sculptural pieces from a range of materials including: steel, bronze, iron, wood, glass and stone. I often work with recycled materials giving new life, purpose and beauty to things others would consider trash. Basically, I work to eat and create to live. I don’t look for a deep meaning in my pieces. Instead I want them to be fun and pleasing to look at.

  • Megan Benson
    Megan Benson
    Visual Arts: Textiles
As a fiber artist and weaver, Megan Benson explores themes related to identity, gender roles, and perfection. Megan’s work blends the traditional structures produced on a four-harness floor loom with unconventional techniques through embellishment and deconstruction. The passage of time, difficult life phases and the perceived permanence/impermanence of life is explored through the labor-intensive construction of a weaving, thread by thread. What appears insurmountable can be overcome one moment at a time and expressed one thread at a time. Megan is a recipient of the 2018 Indiana Arts Commission’s On-Ramp Fellowship. She was awarded the 2019 Volunteer of the Year Award by Exodus Refugee Immigration for her work leading an art and sewing group for refugee women. Her academic background in Anthropology informs her weaving explorations and support of culturally diverse weavers in and around Indianapolis. Originally from Pennsylvania, Megan lived in Massachusetts, Delaware, Oregon, Utah and Washington before settling in Indiana eight years ago. She weaves on an heirloom Harrisville four-harness loom that originally belonged to her husband’s grandmother.

  • Anne Cleary
    Anne Cleary
Literary Arts; Performing Arts: Vocal; Visual Arts: Mixed Media, Painting, Textiles, Works on paper
Anne Cleary is a native Hoosier living in the Indianapolis area. She grew up out in the Zionsville countryside. Her childhood spent roaming the fields, creek and woods inform her work to this day. Much of her abstract work is based upon nature, landscapes and the sky, often referring to the mysterious connection human beings have with the natural world. She studied art, English, and vocal music in her undergraduate years, going on to pursue graduate work in vocal performance (Opera). Music is an integral part of her life, and a certain musicality can be seen in some of her painter’s language-  brushstrokes may sometimes conotate musical notation, layers of markings and glazes- perhaps a visual chord. She is currently working heavily in textiles- specifically painted and dyed silks and natural fibers for collage, wall hangings and fashion. She works out of her home studio in the top of a barn on the North side of Indianapolis, and is visited often by appointment.  Website. www.anneclearydesigns.com,                              Instagram : @anne_cleary BA 1997  Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio. Constance Collins
    Visual Arts: Textiles
My artistic expression contains three key elements: pattern, color and texture.  I became a weaver because it requires all three of these. As a result, my fabrics combine unique complex designs with expansive colorways and a mix of yarns to create a final piece that harmoniously blends these elements. I have always appreciated architecture; its precision, angularity and the beauty of functional form inspires me and is a cornerstone of my art.  As a child, I would draw patterns while others drew their pets or family. As I grew, my eye recognized patterns in everything from nature to buildings to menswear.  I was always admiring the precise beauty inherent to them. Color provides emotional impact to everything in our world.  The interplay between colors intrigues me and is critical in my fabric design process.  Integrating color into the patterns I design strengthens and complements them rather than overwhelming them. Crisply defined patterns are the foundation of my work. Texture adds a dimensional component to our lives and is the third element of my art.  As the name implies, Textiles are tactile and to me, the hand of a fabric is critical.  When selecting yarns, weight and feel are key considerations.
