Artist Medium: Visual Arts: Acrylic, Mixed Media; Digital
My artwork focuses on redefining fine art through intercepting concepts and experiences pertaining to the Black experience. I offer a subjective view of intersectionality focusing on social, political and cultural issues important to my particular experiences as a Black American. With primary influences along that spectrum, my work intersects acrylic, digital art, and mixed mediums to redefine the narrative of popular culture and fine art. Reproductions of significant Black and Brown faces is often a recurring theme providing new conceptual work to capture the marginalized while also focusing on secondary marginalization throughout various collections and installations. While my primary medium is acrylic paint, I have been exploring the realms of digital art intersecting with a variety of materials and processes.
I portray people and experiences, pertaining to my culture that allows me to take on a role as a historian and document history as I see it being created. People are used as metaphors to address relevant social issues and create a dialogue for change with the use of traditional acrylic painting and technology on stretched canvas.
