About My Work:

My current paintings are an investigation and reflection of the landscape and nature that surrounds me. Wooded areas in Indiana and other rural locations from my travels have become a springboard for the content of these paintings.  The work is my translation of fields, lines, objects, and spaces from the natural world. While creating this work, I employed the abstraction of natural elements in my environment such as tree roots, forests, horizon lines, and sky formations. All of these elements have become a pervasive images in my most recent work. The processes of painting, and landscape as the root subject, as well as paintings made up to this point in our art history are invaluable to the way I create my work.  I am interested in producing paintings through which the viewer can visually navigate, while suggesting colors and shapes that make reference to the spaces and situations with which we associate and are familiar.
