Jodie was born and raised in northern Indiana. She graduated from Penn High School in Mishawaka. When her plans to attend art school were thwarted, she earned her livelihood as a floral designer before opening her decorative arts boutique in Goshen, Indiana. At the turn-of-the-century she resurrected her dream for a fine art degree, which eventually led her to relocate to Indianapolis, where she has lived and worked for 17 years.

About My Work:

Jodie has been exploring the intersections of  art and adornment for over twenty years when her studies in costume history at Indiana University – South Bend led to a fascination with the sign language of clothes. Her work today is centered on the interactive aspect of art worn on the most conspicuous part of the body, the head. Visitors to her Hattery can experience a fantasy dressing room with rose quartz walls, white velvet throne, and crowing adornments for personal self-expression. Custom commissions are also accepted.
