Creative Renewal Arts Fellow - In 1999, the Arts Council of Indianapolis, with generous support from the Lilly Endowment, established the Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship program. Originally conceived as a renewal opportunity similar to an academic sabbatical, this groundbreaking initiative offers mid-career artists and arts administrators the opportunity to renew and refresh their creativity. In it's 9th round, the fellowship offers 30 artists and arts administrators $10,000 for an 18 month fellowship period.

John Alvarado has been performing classical and flamenco guitar in the Indianapolis area since moving here in 2004. His performances have included appearances at the Indianapolis Art Center, Eiteljorg Museum, Indiana History Center, Butler University, The Chatterbox, Indianapolis Art Center, IUPUI, and the University of Indianapolis.

About My Work:

I perform classical and flamenco guitar music. While I perform a wide range of repertoire, my focus is on the classical music of Spain and Latin America as well as flamenco music. The range of my repertoire allows me to perform in a wide range of settings from formal concerts and recitals, to background music for events, weddings, and parties.
