About My Work:

Artistic Activities:

*2000 – Developed and began teaching writing workshop called “Writing Faithfully”.

*2003 – Poem made into a video in Spain. Book Tiempo Espanol written in Spain; published US.

*2005 – Reading, Hanover College Culture and Artist Series.

*2005 – Readings at the National Congress of Writers, North Dakota

*2006 – Poem selected by British glass artist Martin Donlin to inspire and appear in a 25’ stained glass window he was commissioned to create for the new terminal at the Indianapolis International Airport.  Opened 2008.

*2006 – Project with the Indianapolis Arts Council and the IndyGo bus system.  Wrote and selected poems from other poets to be printed as a book of poetry postcards.  These poems also appeared on city buses for a year, and were read by the poets to passengers on the buses.

*2007 – Collaborated with glass artist Arlon Bayliss on a room sized, lighted glass artwork containing a poem written for the new wing of the Indianapolis-Marion County Library.

*2007 – Edited the Sports Poetry Trading Card Anthology, while serving as Poet Laureate of the State of Indiana and planning, coordinating, hosting the 3rd National Gathering of Poets Laureate.

*2008 – Poem based on art at the National Art Museum of Sport part of a yearlong exhibition.

*2008 – Two poems based on art at Gallery 308 in Muncie, Indiana, part of Arts Kaleidoscope   Exhibition.  One poem also made into a video.

*2008 – Tetracty Poem in matted and framed photograph at Mary Anderson Center for the Arts.

*2008 – Panelist, “First Ladies of Poetry” at the South Carolina Book Festival.

*2010 – Poetry part of Postcards of Sacred Travel Exhibits at the Indianapolis Inter-Faith Center and the Jewish Community Center.

*2010 – Organized multi-county community derived public literary art project called Word Hunger.  Facilitated community discussion from which poems were produced, and painted on barns in the counties, with the project being recorded by WFYI public television.

*2011 – Readings and panelist at Spencer Museum, University of Kansas.

*2011 – Organized and lead collaborative poetry readings and writing program on “community” with the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library as part of the One City/One Prompt program.
