My paintings are Realism and Hyperrealism. My goal, always, is to create the illusion of a reality that’s just a bit sharper, brighter and more real than actual reality. To this end, I start with a careful composition, from which I prepare a detailed graphite drawing before ever touching brush to paper. I highlight depth and veracity with strong, bright colors. I want my paintings to feel like a window the viewer can almost reach into, rather than an image on a two-dimentional surface.
Altthough I most often work in watercolor, I also occasionally work in graphite, pen and ink, acrylic and oil.
My primary style is Hyperrealism. My subject matter includes Still Life, Figurative, Landscape and Wildlife, but my main focus is Still Life.
I often paint fruit, toys and other subjects at many times their actual size. I paint each item with passion, telling its story as accurately as I can.
My work is known for intense, joyful colors, and a strong sense of depth and realism.
