By painting, I try to see more intensely and strive to distill, translate and share these perceptions.
My paintings have been inspired by the places I have visited. The Italian landscape has been the main subject of my paintings since my first visit in 1987. I have returned to Italy many times for it’s awe-inspiring landscapes.
After I moved in 2000 to the Midwest from Boston, I felt the need to paint images of the ocean as a metaphor. I’ve expanded my imagery to include paintings of local
Karen paints imagery with oil on canvas. She reinterprets her subjects using light, and color. In addition to painting her own work, she accepts commissions from clients using their photos. She has painted over 200 custom portraits of people, dogs, cats, horses, etc. as well as commissioned landscapes over the last 5 years.
Prices start at 98. – $4000. depending on the size and complexity of the subject.
