I am a Hoosier artist and have spent most of my life in Indiana, residing in Carmel for the past 16 years.  I have travellled around the world as a flight attendant for 14 years and seen many cultures and amazing art museums.  Art truly is the universal language.  One of my most memorable trips was to Calcutta India.  I visited the Missionaries of Charity and gave them my painting of Mother Teresa.  My favorite artists are Kathe Kollwitz, Salvador Dali, and Claude Monet.  My work is ... view more »

About My Work:

My style is evolving and has been influenced by many factors. My personal preferences and life experiences have naturally influenced my work. There are key artists whose work has inspired me as well. Salvador Dali, Kathe Kollwitz, and Claude Monet are three of these artists. My subject matter is figurative involving people and or animals. The figure is often placed in the contexts of a story or idea. I incorporate extra details that can be seen on closer inspection. This makes the painting more interesting and fun. Salvador Dali has influenced this aspect of my art. His paintings Hallucinogenic Toreador, Discovery of America, and Ecumenical Council invite you in and never lose your attention. Another artist who inspires me is Kathe Kollwitz. I admire the depth of emotion and feeling portrayed in all her work. She has shown me the importance of expression in art. I also, appreciate the colors of nature and the effects of light. This is seen in the beautiful palette of Claude Monet. Color can also set the mood to further enhance the emotion and narrative of the work. There have been many influences that have transformed my style into what it is today. Overall, my aesthetic is expression both conceptually and visually in a narrative and naturalistic style that is predominately figurative
