Lauren King

Hello everyone! My name is Lauren King and I am a long-time Indian resident. I am a practicing artist in the field of painting, and also am an art therapist. I recently graduated with my Masters degree in Art Therapy from Herron School of Art + Design, and am currently working at Eskenazi Health Midtown Community Mental Health as a school-based art therapist. I am also an art instructor at the Monon Communtiy Center in Carmel, IN as a member of their adaptive team working with individuals with cognitive and developmental disabilities.

I have teaching experience at various art centers in Indianapolis and surrounding communities for children and adults of varying ability levels. I have experience working with individuals with cognitive and developmental disabilities as well as mental health concerns including mood disorders, anxiety, thought disorders, personality disorders, and behavioral health concerns. I have led individual art therapy sessions, group art therapy sessions, as well as private painting lessons for children, adolescents, adults, and elders. Watercolor is my medium of choice, but I have experience with oil and acrylics, sculpture, metals, ceramics, drawing, and printmaking.

Alongside my work in teaching and art therapy, I am currently the gallery coordinator at IU Health Methodist Hospital. I oversee curation of artist work to place in two gallery spaces in the main lobby of the hospital.
