I find the written word the most prominent inspiration for my artistic expression. My work frequently involves research into symbolism, both archetypal and cultural, in an effort to bring a deeper connection into the piece. When working specifically with text, I strive to integrate the letterforms with the conceptual background I have conceived.
Many of my designs are created in the moment in response to text that I find personally relevant or meaningful. Other times, however, the exploration of design has inspired the use of a complementary text.

Margaret, did you ever win the ‘Arthur Streeton’ award for an oil painting ‘scene of the Mallee.’ I bought this painting from an old friend when I worked for the ABC, Melbourne around 1974. It is quite large and rather beautiful. Your name is on the back of the painting and of course the painting itself is signed by you.
Could there have been another ‘Margaret Lowry?’
