Matt Cooper

I am an artist with Autism. Before last year, I probably wouldn’t have called myself an artist. I wrote books and screenplays and made films, but my experience with painting was limited to art class back in high school. About a year ago, I got it in my head that I wanted to try to paint, and since then, I’ve painted nearly 3 dozen oil paintings. I often paint to get out my emotions. As a result, they’ve been described as surreal or dream-life. You can often tell what mood I was in based off the painting from that day. My hope is that my work evokes a feeling, whatever feeling that may be.
