My work deals with loss and memory. The work relates to the passing of my parents and how I cope with memories that I can not trust, but I simultaneously cherish.

Brinkman makes large-scale toy theaters depicting scenes from her childhood. She paints and also uses a Xerox transfer technique to show how photos play a strong role in the creation of her memories. Brinkman also does fiber art, dioramas and paintings relating to this theme. Her work is described as whimsical, surreal, fun and evocative. Brinkman’s mural work is on commission. She has completed murals for the Route 66 Experience Exhibit at the Joliet Historical Museum and won the Superior Exhibit award from the Illinois Museum Association.
