My purpose for drawing is to further my artistic ability by creating series of works using exclusively charcoal, and ink in order gain a deeper understanding of the elements and principals of design. Black and white values suit this series extremely well bearing in mind their symbolic links to positive and negative force. Darkness (Black) renders the sober and expressive qualities of the figure contrary to the light (White) which is symbolic of enlightenment, spirituality, space, and the good. The series represent different degrees of confusion, emotion and moralistic outlooks projected by humans.
