Nick Ray

My purpose for drawing is to further my artistic ability by creating series of works using exclusively charcoal, and ink in order gain a deeper understanding of the elements and principals of design. I intend to strengthen my knowledge of architecture, the human form, and perspective by intertwining these subject matters into a variety of compositions. The ongoing themes of my drawing series involve the human condition and struggle concerning our own consciousness in regards to culture, religion, psychology, and philosophical views of the balance between good and evil. We simultaneously perceive and interpret these forces individually and as a society. My work reflects my own confusion and views of society, culture, and the complexity of the world as a whole while analyzing human emotion.
