A lifetime resident of Tippecanoe County, Indiana, except for a 13-year sojourn to Michigan, I only realized the joy of painting and creating art works as a mature adult.  As I was planning for my early retirement, I started some art lessons and quickly found I was immersed.  When I joined the ranks of retired persons and could devote more time to painting, I found that while occupied with my new passion, everyday cares disappeared and ills of the heart were diminished.

Education:

Although I have taken instruction in watercolor, acrylics and pastel, I find that my favorite and most successful medium is pastel.  I have studied pastel and acrylics with Bette Goodrich, Bob Heger, Karen Bartlett and Sharon Griffes Tarr and enjoyed extended pastel workshops with Bob Rohm and Doug Dawson.

Affiliations:

Shortly after my arrival in Michigan in late summer of 2006, I joined the Mid-Michigan Art Guild, the MSU Community Club Art Group and the Great Lakes Pastel Society.  I continued my membership in those groups until my husband and I returned to Indiana to be closer to family.

Awards:

In addition to local awards, in 2018 I was chosen by Mid-Michigan Community to be their Artist of the Year for their annual fund raising gala and my landscape entitled “MICHIGAN WOODS” is hanging in their gallery,  Prints of the artwork were distributed to guests at the gala.
