Born in 1989 in Decatur, Indiana, Rachel Linnemeier works in the mediums of oil paint and watercolor. She has finished her undergraduate B.F.A. in Painting with a minor in Art History from the Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis. Her current body of work deals primarily with the concept of relationships. Some of her pieces examine the irony of wordplay, while others focus on interpersonal interactions. Currently residing in Indianapolis she plans to continue painting and aspires to
My most recent body of work is meant to capture emotions in an iconic moment and pass them on to the viewer. Antiquated films feature beautiful Hollywood starlets alongside debonair leading gentlemen. These couples embody ideal romances and relationships filled with chivalry, values, and a level of truth long forgotten.
In these works, the typical elements of portraiture have been selectively edited, whereas artists traditionally choose faces as focal points, both subjects are anonymous. This forces the audience to notice details other than facial features and inspires curiosity and inquiry. This anonymity has the added value of allowing viewers the ability to imagine anyone they choose in these roles.
