“I strive for a peaceful, calming beauty in my work. I’m attracted to natural subject matter, such as fruits and flowers, as well as fragile things, such as feathers, shells, and bird’s eggs. Most of my work is painted from life in the studio over a period of weeks. My love is creating quiet, poetic paintings with deep, rich colors, compelling subject matter and concise, elegan compositions.” Rita Spalding
Artist Style: Visual: Figurative, Representational; Portraiture
Spalding’s approach to painting is fairly traditional, but its not purely representational. The artist combines very realistic elements with an abstracted, softended view of reality.
