About My Work:

Being an art teacher over thirty years, I’ve always enjoyed manipulating media and experimenting with processes. My most recent discovery has been using fluid acrylics on yupo with tape resists. I’ve also created my own collage papers using deli paper, stencils and acrylics. While in Greece, July 2021, I intensified my study of how light affects color. Kefalonia is known as the island of light. Seeing the beautiful warms and cools as the light danced on the Ionian Sea, I began abstracting imagery more during this trip and now hope to delve into this more. I credit many of my artists/ instructors for sharing their knowledge and encouraging me over the years. I have studied under oil painters: William Ashby, Patrick Saunders, Pam Newell, Wyatt Lagrand; watercolorists: Paul Jackson, Andy Evansen; collage and acrylic artists: Karen Knutson, Sandy Maudlin, Natasha Metaxa and Jennifer Stone. I consider myself a life-long learner.  I also love teaching my students to discover the artist within, to take risks, and grab the bigger brush.
