Sara Steffey McQueen is a painter, printmaker, and mixed media artist who finds the rural hills of Bloomington her home. She received her Bachelors of Art and Masters of Art for Teachers in Fine Arts at Indiana University. She had the honor of being a public school Art teacher for 30 yrs. in Bloomington. As an artist/teacher, she found working with young artists rewarding, and a continually renewing experience.
Several recognitions during her career include being published in Artistic Touch 6, having her art owned by two Universities, and receiving two Lilly Teacher Creativity Fellowship Grants. The Lilly Grants afforded her the opportunity to travel throughout the United States and Great Britain, painting along the way.
I recently retired from Jackson Creek Middle School. I work in my studio, teach classes, garden, and enjoy being a grandmother of two beautiful children. My art reflects my appreciation of Nature through both abstracts and representational paintings.
For the last three years I have expanded my style and process as I discovered the work of Flora Aube in the Art of Allowing. This process of allowing intuition to strengthen, and letting go of the inner critic has brought additional enthusiasm into my creative life. I was so in love with this process, that I have taken the Facilitator training with Flora, and now am happy to guide other women in this midwifing of the Divine Feminine into our lives.
I offer privately guided painting classes for women in my studio. This is a process of opening and trusting one’s inner experiences and is open to women with no prior art experience as well as established artists. You may contact me personally through email or on my face book page
