Artist Statement

I find the process of creating art to be a refuge. Painting on both silk and canvas affords me the opportunity to express how I’m feeling in any given moment, commenting on the rhythm of the day, the change in season, or the love I feel for my family and pets. I work intuitively and rarely repeat myself.

For me, the hardest part of the creative process is ignoring my inner critic – the voice that can keep you from even starting a project for fear it won’t come out

About My Work:

I am a painter with a dual focus: works on canvas and works on silk. My canvas work is expressionistic in style; the subject matter ranges from landscape to the human figure to pet portraiture. I also use silk as a canvas to create works of art suitable for wearing as scarves, sarongs, camisoles, and jackets, that can be displayed when not being worn, in addition to creating silk paintings for home decor. I like to allow my intuition to guide me when I paint, expressing the emotions and mood of the moment, through the careful layering of bright bold colors to arrive at a picture that evokes emotion in the viewer.
