The City of Oklahoma City announces a call for professional artists to submit their qualifications to be considered for a contract to create public art that will serve as a dynamic attraction in the lobby of the Bennett Event Center on the Oklahoma Fair Grounds. Works of interactive art that respond to motion, air movement, sound, meteorological conditions, or other stimuli, and that incorporate the use of light and possibly sound are particularly encouraged.
Budget: $335,000
Eligibility: Practicing artists with prior public art experience, over 18 years of age

PROJECT INFORMATION
The 290,000 square-foot Bennett Event Center offers 200,000-square-feet of contiguous floor space, making it the largest event space in Oklahoma City. The expo building’s modern design features a 15,000-square-foot lobby, concession areas, a ticket space, commercial kitchen and parking for more than 2,000. A combination of glass and translucent wall panel creates an open, light-filled entrance.
The work sought through the announcement will be situated in the lobby; the exact location(s) will be proposed by the artist. Any material and medium may be considered, including metal, wood, paint, mosaic, relief, mobiles, New Media work, etc.
