Arts Commission to host artist workshops for site-specific projects
The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced that it will host three summer workshops designed to help artists create successful site-specific, community-based arts projects.
“The Art of Community Engagement” workshops will feature a professional peer artist to share their advice and experience, a naturalist for understanding how to operate in a park setting, and IAC staff to help participants understand best practices to secure funding through the Arts in the Parks and Historic Sites program.
“These workshops will help our state’s artists imagine how they can engage people in new, creative environments,” said IAC Executive Director Lewis C. Ricci. “The joining of the arts with the nature and history provides unique opportunities for artists to utilize their creativity in innovative ways.’
Workshop dates and locations are:
July 10, 2016 1:30 p.m. (EDT) Fort Harrison State Park
July 31, 2016 1:30 p.m. (CDT) Indiana Dunes State Park
August 14, 2016 1:30 p.m. (EDT) Brown County State Park
