Arts Council of Indianapolis and gener8tor Announce Emergency Response Program for Artists

The Arts Council of Indianapolis, in partnership with gener8tor, announce a second wave of an initiative supporting Indianapolis artists affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. Under the Indy Arts & Culture COVID-19 Emergency Relief Program, artists will have access to free webinars and one-on-one consultations with advisors to guide them through tax season and help them identify and apply for critical financial resources.

All central Indiana-based artists can sign up now for the webinars and support sessions, which will be available Feb. 16-24. The 30-minute, one-on-one consultations with gener8tor experts are limited to 16 people per day, so artists are encouraged to register as soon as possible. The gener8tor team will work with artists to answer questions they might have about federal, state, local, and private programs such as unemployment benefits, loans, and grants.

A July 2020 survey conducted by the Arts Council indicates that less than 40 percent of artists in central Indiana had applied for benefits under the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PAU) program. They cited confusion about the process as the main reason for their lack of participation.

The schedule is as follows:

Feb. 16 (webinar): Applying for unemployment and other financial resources
Feb. 17 (30-minute consultations): Talk to a professional one-on-one to learn more about unemployment and other financial resources.
Feb. 23 (webinar): Support for creatives on filing taxes for the unusual year that was 2020 and support for best practices of keeping good records for tax preparation, etc.
Feb. 24 (30-minute consultations): Talk to a professional to help with tax preparation and other financial resources.

Sign up for a free session here.
