Project Specifics

The Arts Council of Indianapolis is requesting images of existing artwork for reproduction and installation on the Arts Council’s street-facing façade, located at 924 N. An image of the selected artwork will be printed on vinyl and installed on the façade windows by a signage company to form a large mural. The artist’s work will remain on view for two years.

The site can accommodate three existing works that are thematically or visually similar, or one artwork that uses all three openings as a single mural image.

2014 – 2016 installation: Jessica Springman, (left to right) Revelation, Pristina, and Singularity. Original images pen and ink, 2013.

Submission Process

To apply for this project, you will provide your contact information and images of the artworks you are suggesting for this installation.

  • Applicant Information: The online form will require you to type in your name, address, contact information, and preferred social media. If you are selected we will ask you for additional information. You do not need to print this application, and you can start the application and come back later to finish. Remember to click “Submit” when all information is complete.
  • Proposal Images: The online form will require you to attach up to three images of work you are suggesting for this project. Only the artwork submitted will be considered.
    • Attach the images in .jpg, .jpeg, or .pdf format only.
    • Please ensure that the resolution is no smaller than 72 dpi.
    • Do not submit images in full reproduction size. If your work is selected, we will ask you for a high-resolution file to use for production of the mural.
    • Clear, high-quality images are essential to presenting your work at its best. Need help getting great images of your work? Visit here to learn about local photographers who can assist you, and a link to a tip sheet for doing it yourself.
  • Image Information: The online form will require you to submit the following information about each submitted image:
    • Title of artwork
    • Year it was created
    • Medium of the original artwork
  • Image Mockups (optional): The online form will give you the option of including a mockup of each submitted artwork pasted into a template of the site.  While this is optional, including the mockups will allow you to communicate how your work would be cropped and scaled to fit the available area. Including a mockup is to your advantage.
    • You can download the template in either .jpg or .psd format HERE.  If you have trouble with the download, contact Lindsey Lord at llord@indyarts.org to request a direct email of your preferred template.
    • To create the mockups, you can use any software that allows you to edit and superimpose images (such as Photoshop). Pixlr.com is a free online image editing program that works like Photoshop.
    • Attach each mockup as a separate file.
  • Demographic Information (optional):  The online form will ask you to provide information about your race/ethnicity, preferred gender identification and pronouns, age category, disability identification, and veteran identification.  While providing this information is optional, doing so will allow the Arts Council to serve our community better.
