ArtWorks is bringing back one of the most anticipated art events in Cincinnati, Secret ArtWorks, this fall on Friday, November 16. The event, which is one part blow-out shindig and one part art-lover’s paradise, is our fall fundraiser in support of their mission: transforming people and places through investments in creativity.
For Secret ArtWorks, they send a call out to artists far and wide, known and unknown, to create mini-masterpieces which are the “secrets” chosen by guests at the big bash. Each guest gets a piece of art of their choosing along with their entry to the party of the year. There is no theme for the art, so each artist has the freedom to create whatever they wish, within the predetermined guidelines of the 5×7” width and height and 1”depth. (They provide the “canvas” and instructions to artists).
Each piece of art is affixed to a board for display on the night of the event. Here’s the twist—the artist’s name is obscured on the back of the piece and isn’t revealed until it is chosen and removed from the board. Call it art-roulette, call it crazy, they call it fun!
It is their goal to give a platform to a diverse range of artists from all over the country. Secret Artworks is the one time a year where they ask artists to “donate” something. They supply the packets, which include instructions for the artist, canvases, and a return envelope.
Deadline: October 15th
